Proportioning & Residual Check Valves

A proportioning valve is used to adjust pressure distributed between the front and rear brakes for even braking (brake bias). Residual pressure valves are used in the front and rear brake systems (2lb) on disc brake applications when the master cylinder is mounted below the level of the brake calipers thus preventing fluid from draining back into the master cylinder. 10lb valves are used in drum brake applications to maintain some pressure and prevent return springs from collapsing wheel cylinders.
